If you are a residential or commercial property owner in need of Gravel Driveway installation and/or maintenance look no further than Adobe Construction. Below is a recently completed project refinishing a 3/4 mile gravel driveway in Petaluma, Ca.
How Did We Do It?
Assessing Your Needs and Planning:
The owner of this driveway is a new client of Adobe Construction Company. They contacted us to come out and evaluate a 3/4 mile long gravel driveway they owned that needed some repair and maintenance. Upon visiting the site I drove the client down the driveway to get a grasp of their main concerns. Most of the concerns were apparent and consisted of potholes and washboarding in various locations through out the driveway. Together we came up with a work plan that would be within their budget. The project dates were set and their job was officially on our schedule.
Preparing the Site:
After mobilizing the equipment to the job site, I again drove through the driveway to refresh myself with the various trouble spots. I marked the spots so that I wouldn’t overlook the areas of concern as previously discussed.
Grading:
Work began! After marking the areas I used our equipment to address the main problem areas. We excavated the potholes and washboard surface areas of the driveway. Following that we graded the full length of the driveway to give the whole surface area a fresh grade and to prepare the surface for fresh gravel.
Installing New Gravel:
After grading the driveway surface we began installing new gravel. As part of our previously discussed plan with our client, we installed new gravel in the most troublesome areas. The driveway as a whole did not need a complete new layer of gravel instead we identified areas that were worn to the soil and began the process of building up those areas. After installing a new layer of gravel we again graded the surface to ensure a smooth driving area.
Conclusion:
We had a great time restoring this long gravel driveway. In our initial meeting I explained to the client that with gravel driveways of this length it is important to perform regular maintenance to prevent more time consuming problems from presenting themselves. Adobe Construction not only installs new gravel driveways but also performs regular maintenance on heavily used driveways which can deteriorate as a result of heavy vehicle traffic from farming activities, winery operations, and construction activity. Our goal is to keep gravel driveways in good working order so commercial operations can proceed smoothly. I explained to our client that it is not uncommon for private property owners and/or commercial property owners to contact us to spend a couple days performing regular maintenance on their driveway. The homeowner appreciated this and appreciated the results we were able to deliver in a short period of time. This Sonoma County family was very nice to work for, and Adobe Construction looks forward to working for them again in the future.
